If you could drop everything and go anywhere and do anything - without any financial or personal consequences - where would you go and what would you do?

I'd probably head to NYC. I have always wanted to go...I fantasize about living there... I'd love to just walk the streets with a coffee in hand like a total yuppie, spend a bunch of money, rent a brownstone, and start my life as a set/interior/furniture/industrial designer/artist/blogger/photographer/make-up artist.

OR drop everything and go live in one of these things.

I don't text. It's not on my plan, so I have to pay for each message, and honestly I think it's very annoying. People who are avid texters tend to piss me off... especially if I'm trying to talk to them or spend time with them and they keep whipping out their damn phone. It's distracting to the both of us. My dad knows that I get pissed each time I receive a text, and so he chooses to send me one-liners like "Hi Meg" and "I love you!" about once a week, just to continually irritate me. It's sweet, but he knows exactly what he's doing... so it's not quite as sweet as it sounds.

Texting does have its conveniences and its places. But not at dinner or meals with others, not at the wheel, and basically any time where it's intended that you should be paying complete attention.

I gave up facebook. I'm not a practicing Catholic (although I was baptized Rom. Catholic), and I don't do this for a religious reason, but rather a chance to ditch a vice or habit that I want to take a break from. It's how I kicked my daily soda addiction back in high school. So this year it's facebook-- something that probably takes up more time than it should, and is very unnecessary. True, sometimes it's fun, and sometimes I learn things about friends that I otherwise wouldn't know. But I'm just tired of it (and feeling so addicted to the internet in the first place). The less time I "waste" online the better.

I think my first mp3 player was the most useful and most loved of my Christmas gifts. I got an RCA Lyra back in 2000/2001 I believe. I didn't realize how much I loved it when I first got it. In fact, I thought it was kind of strange and ugly.  I didn't ask for an mp3 player as a gift because honestly, back then, I didn't really know they existed. My dad took it upon himself to get it for me, and as I learned more about using it, the more I grew to love it. And depend on it. This thing got me through the 6 AM bus ride to school every day, pumped me up before my swim meets, and worked out with me at the gym. I have no idea where it went though! I replaced it with a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30 GB (which now appears antiquated... I am sizing up those Zunes!)

QotD: Favorite High School Class

What was your favorite class in high school? (And no, lunch doesn't count.) 

Art was always a favorite, but unfortunately I always treated it like recess and was very unproductive in that class. Since I took IB Art, this really bit me in the ass senior year when I had almost nothing to show for myself and my 4 years of art. Needless to say, I paid dearly for that mistake of slacking off. 

I just never felt pressed to do much in there. The teachers didn't really give enough direction, or enough discipline. And I was so over-worked and over-stressed with all my other classes and activities that I just couldn't bring myself to really stress over art. It always got put on the back-burner.

I don't feel like it's changed much even now, out of school. I love art, and I know I am happiest when I am creating. But I never bring myself to produce anything. Everything else seems more important than sitting down with a pencil and paper and just having fun. Job applications, cleaning up, organizing, finishing this or that... art always gets put on the back-burner. Maybe I need to make an effort to bring it towards the front...

QotD: Your Choice of Beverage

If you could only drink one beverage for the rest of your life (not including water), which one would you choose?

Coffee. Coffee is much more than a beverage-- it's a tool. With caffeine, it helps a person become more focused and awake... and helps thousands of architecture students everywhere pull all-nighters in their studios (good times). But decaffeinated (or in smaller quantities), it is deliciously comforting. You can drink it hot or cold. You can have it sweet or not. Black or with lots of milk. It's versatile. And I loooove it.

I came across this when I was browsing ModCloth. I like the off-center zipper, with a v-neck and tailored waste. Very nice. Too bad I am poor.
